Ziwe’s funky and fabulous Valentino look suited her to the core. She wore a loose purple dress, which she describes as “frockish,” and a pair of sky-high platform white heels—“out of Clueless”—along with a jeweled pink bag. As she watched the show, she was drawn to another purple dress that came down the runway: look 91, adorned with a fluttering cape. “I was thinking, ‘Okay, do I need to find a lover? Do I need to get engaged? How do I expedite marriage so I can wear this dress at a wedding?” says Ziwe. “It was so gorgeous that I wanted to wear it now.”Photo: Courtesy of Ziwe The most genius aspect of Margot’s style, in our eyes, is that she sticks to her signatures. The Tenenbaums are a wealthy family, but even so, Margot doesn’t dabble in excessive consumerism like she could. She rewears things, and she rewears them often. Take her signature mink coat: She sports it throughout the film, and in a flashback scene, she’s even seen wearing the same coat as a teen while telling the story of how she lost one of her fingers. (Spoiler: it was a freak wood-chopping accident.) Even her striped tennis dress makes a cameo a few times too.

She’s concrete proof that a refined uniform will never go out of style. This fall, we’re taking that to heart and thinking of outfits that can be reworn again and again as well. Margot would definitely approve—though she’d never tell you that to your face. “There’s a red carpet behind me, there are no seats, and all I know is Balenciaga does the most interesting and creative shows of the season,” says model Ella Emhoff as she arrives at Balenciaga’s spring 2022 show space. Yes, even the models at Balenciaga are along for the ride—and this season’s red-carpet premiere spectacular was quite a ride. As Emhoff illustrates on this episode of Good Morning Vogue, everything at Balenciaga is orchestrated to a tee, from her slicked-back hair to the rhythm of the guests on the red carpet…but there are a few surprises along the way. Before the show she tests out red-carpet poses with another model and explores the backstage area of Paris’s legendary Théâtre du Châtelet. And then, after nailing the red carpet alongside other modeling legends like Amber Valletta and Naomi Campbell, Emhoff and guests are treated to a very special surprise episode of The Simpsons that imagines Homer, Marge, and the entire town of Springfield as Balenciaga models. What could the Simpsons learn from an actual Balenciaga model like Emhoff? Watch this episode and see for yourself.
